Uniflame Grills:
Bargain Priced, Hit
And
Miss Models, Some A Good
Value
It is
easy to find quality grills in higher price ranges,
but to find a good grill around 100 dollars or even less can be
quite a challenge. Outdoor grills in this category can be a
real hit or miss, even from within the same brand, so it pays
to do your research and read reviews. After all, not everyone
wants to spend a small fortune on a gas grill. Luckily, there
are several options for the budget minded shopper and the
prices on Uniflame grills simply cannot be
beaten.
Uniflame grills are sold exclusively at Wal-Mart and are
imported from China by Blue Rhino, the brand many people get
their propane tanks from. Starting out in 1994 as a propane
tank exchange service, Blue Rhino quickly became the number one
source for propane tanks in the United States. Its founder,
Billy Prim thought up the brand name after an African safari
and hasn’t looked back since. Now Blue Rhino manufactures and
distributes a wide range of gas fueled items relating to the
outdoors including heaters, fireplaces, and Uniflame
grills.
Today
Uniflame grills are designed and marketed as the lowest priced
gas grills you can find, while still delivering style and
performance. It’s important to recognize that due to their
budget pricing, some particular models may be much better
purchases than others. Their current lineup includes grills
priced from 25 dollars to 250 dollars. These models include
both portable and full sized grills ranging in size from 207 to
759 square inches and 10,000 to 68,000 BTU’s.
When purchasing an outdoor
grill in this price range it’s easy to see that there can be
some real value to be had. Although these grills are made of
inexpensive materials and include many plastic parts, for the
price it’s hard to complain. It’s surprising that for such a
low price many models are actually quite feature packed, with
some even including sear burners, side burners, and
rotisseries. In addition, most models have sufficient heat
output and cook relatively evenly. On the other hand however,
the main drawbacks of these grills are the light weight
materials and flimsy metal parts. The grates and burners are
made from ultra thin metal and the porcelain coating on many of
their models is not very durable.
Overall,
with such a low price, it’s hard to go wrong with a Uniflame
grill, but be careful to choose your model wisely and
keep your expectations in line with the price of
these grills. If you do, it should offer good value
for the price.
